What A Weekend

Dr. Raymond (a native of Roatan and Doc at the clinic) coaches basketball for a group of island kids every Saturday. Having coached in high school, Tyrell was anxious to get his game on with the local kids. So, when our second Saturday came, Tyrell, Fred, Abe and I piled into the back of Dr. Raymonds truck and headed to Coxen Hole.

We were expecting a team of 10-15 boys of the same age, but by the time we pulled into the park, we had already picked up 20 kids. We were greeted by at least another 20 kids – of all ages and sizes – eager to start practice.

We finished practice just in time to pick up Tyrell’s mom and her husband from the airport. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the dock – introducing them to some of our sea friends and trying to get Toni into a snorkel mask.

We were also able to enjoy some 4th of July festivities on West Bay Beach…

We enjoyed a $5 burger at Bananarama

Watched our crabs loose the crab race…

And finished with a fabulous fire dance and fireworks!
